last week i started with some smaller prints to experiment and get used to the workshop and i am going to print larger formats next week. today is sunday and workshops are closed *

belgium 1 / a trip to the countryside

till end of october i am artist in residence in the frans-masereel-centrum in kasterlee. a village in flanders, belgium. i plan to do different silkscreen projects there. the weather is great but it is getting a bit frosty *

it´s grey outside and just the right time for drawing in the atelier. so i actually enjoy the weather.

A wonderfull place in Leipzig - an antique shop resp. house that looks like a museum.
The owner definitely had fun arranging the things.

Skizzenfestival 2

Workshop "Heroes of Stralsund" - Cooperation with Anais Edely. We were looking for anybody - anything that could be our personal hero. For me it were the horses from a carousel on the market. Since the market was still closed I couldn´t see them, I just tried to approach them somehow by sneaking around ... later the market opened and Anais took over the story!

Skizzenfestival 1

The last 10 days of July the 2nd International Skizzenfestival in Stralsund took place. We were there with ILLUMAT and also took part in some of the sketching workshops. 10 days of intensive drawing at the baltic sea, nice people and an invasion of ladybirds. I post some pages of my sketchbook!

illustration for chrismon-magazine

This week the monthly magazine chrismon came out as an supplement to the geman newspapers "Der Tagesspiegel", “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, "Süddeutsche Zeitung", “Potsdamer Neueste Nachrichten", “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung”, “Schweriner Volkszeitung” and “Die Zeit". I illustrated an article about unconditional basic income. This subject is in discussion in germany and a kind of social philosophy. The state is giving money anyway - to support enterprices with huge benefits (especially today) and to the people: to finance people that are not on the job market, for example parents - that do important work as well and socially deprived. The decoupling of income and work is supposed to give everybody the freedom of choice to do what he wants and not what he is forced to do to earn his living. Of course the lazy stay lazy - but the work of people with ideas and engagement will be acknowledged much better. And shitty jobs have to be made much more attractive to find someone to do them :--)

ILLUMAT, again ...

To the occasion of the block party "Bunte Republik Neustadt" the ILLUMAT was together with guest
in action in my hometown Dresden. It is a huge feast with a lot of kids jumping around.
We hope we made them and all others happy with the drawings they got from the "illustration machine".
Next date / next week at the annual exhibition of the Bauhaus-University.

This is my graphic interpretation of Cees Nootebooms short story "Stockholm, Barcelona, Stockholm". It comes as a picture book with extra textbook and is limited to 50 pieces. I really liked the story since a long time and finally finished the project these days.
