ILLUMAT at the Leipzig Bookfair

The Leipzig Bookfair was the start for the season of the Illustrationmachine too. About 5 drawers per day made the machine going and of course the audience that continued wishing pictures! For the present these are my pop-up illustrations. Tomorrow we are heading towards Italy for beautifull Bologna, the Children´s Book Fair and a decent Espresso in the morning.

what a weekend!

I spent the weekend copying old masters, enjoying nature, drinking coffee and thinking a lot that I should continue with my po-up book! // Dieses Wochenende habe ich Alte Meister kopiert, die Natur genossen (mehr so theoretisch), Kaffee getrunken und daran gedacht, dass bald mein Pop-Up-Buch fertig werden muss. Nächste Woche ist Leipziger Buchmesse und gleich danach die Kinderbuchmesse in Bologna!

Bilder für das Bedingungslose Grundeinkommen

Die Idee für ein Grundeinkommen für jeden Bürger ohne dass er arbeiten muss, macht Sinn. Die Arbeitswelt verändert sich, die Verwaltung der Arbeitslosen verbraucht große Resourcen. Statt durch Subventionen Arbeitsplätze zu erhalten, kann der Staat auch in ein bedingungsloses Grundeinkommen für alle investieren. Dass sich dadurch mehr gesellschaftliches Engagement entfalten kann und Anerkennung findet ist eine schöne Vision, genauso wie dass die Menschen mit Lust die Arbeit machen, die sie machen wollen. -- > Mehr Informationen gibt es auf der Webseite der Initiative Grundeinkommen und auch in dem Artikel, den ich letztes Jahr für die Chrismon illustriert habe.

Auf dem Blog der Initiative zur Bebilderung des BGE werden für die Verbreitung der Idee Bilder unter einer Creative Commons Lizenz zur Verfügung gestellt. Seit gestern sind meine mit dabei. Macht gerne mit!

groupshow in dresden

The opening took place last thursday and is open till the 1st of april. // Bis zum ersten April ist die Gruppenausstellung "100 Sächsische Grafiken" im Dresdner Landtag zu sehen. Dies ist die letzte Station der Grafik-Bienale der Neuen Sächsischen Galerie Chemnitz. Prost :*)

Went to the AIR Concert yesterday in the Beogradska Arena and especially liked the supporting act Janne Schra. Despite I really try I do not succeed in buying tram tickets. To the old city center we made it only once, my friend catched the grip and I am busy buying vitamines at the local market.

A miracle for me coming from Germany : plastic bags in the trees and streets. I am fascinated, abandon my environmental conscience and enjoy their transparency, colours and fleetingness.

Many things to see... sometimes it's great sometimes it burst my comprehension of grafic design. But thats what I am taking vacation of :-)

Sava River in Belgrade. I arrived last week, first walked down the waterfront near Novi Beograd and saw the various boathouses at the quay. Cafes, clubs and restaurants inside all still sleeping beauties cause its not the saison. Pittily it's also to cold to draw outside, but the photos tell it better sometimes...

something new pops up

Puh! We just moved our studio - it was a lot of work but Ewa and me are completely happy with the new place! And I started working on something new - a pop-up-book. Actually for a job, but I really got into it and it is flowering out ... // Gerade sind wir mit unserem Atelier umgezogen. Die Mühe hat sich gelohnt; mit dem neuen Arbeitsraum sind Ewa und ich sehr glücklich. Außerdem habe ich angefangen an etwas Neuem zu arbeiten, das ich total spannend finde - einem Pop-Up-Buch. Es entfaltet sich ... und später gibt´s dann mehr zu sehen.

In the letterbox yesterday: One of my illustrations was used for an article by Wiglaf Droste in "Das Magazin". He funnily describes his sudden need for reading glasses. // Jetzt am Kiosk: "Das Magazin" Ausgabe Februar 2010 mit meiner Illustration. Wiglaf Droste beschreibt äußerst witzig sein plötzliches Bedürfnis nach einer Lesebrille.

special exhibition in kasterlee

My graphic works titled ‘Making everything difficult‘ that I made during my residency in the studio of the Frans Masereel Centrum in 2009 is chosen for the ‘yearbook 2009’ of the FMC and for the ‘Special exhibition 2009.’ The Special exhibition is taking place from 14 January through the end of February 2010 in the Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee near Antwerp. //
Eine meiner Arbeiten die ich letztes Jahr im Frans-Masereel-Centrum gemacht habe, wurde für die Jahresausstellung und das Jahrbuch des FMC ausgewählt. Die Ausstellung läuft bis Ende Februar 2010 im Frans-Masereel-Centrum in Kasterlee nahe Antwerpen.

Just before the old year was over I got a huge parcel from China. I was invited contribute pictures to two magazines - the O2 Magazine "100 % fresh air" and then to a magazine which is actually a "Magic Box -Paradise Issue" and now I got the issues send by the people who did it. Both magazines present artist and designers from allover the world and I feel very honored that I am represented there. Below, some impressions ... // Bevor das alte Jahr zuende war, erreichte mich ein riesiges Paket aus China. Man hatte mich eingeladen zu zwei Magazinen etwas beizusteuern und nun habe ich meine Belegexemplare! Das eine habe ich schonmal vorgestellt, die neueste Veröffentlichung ist eine Zeitschrift in Form einer Box. Sie nennt sich Magic Box und hat diesmal den Schwerpunkt "Paradies". Hier kommen einige Eindrücke des Wunderwerkes ...

Last week I was preparing 9 pictures as my part of the group exhibition that will take place in Nürnberg. Vernissage is at the 20th in Kunsthaus Nürnberg. The exhibition will take place from 20.01.2010 - 28.02.2010 there. // In der letzten Woche habe ich 9 Bilder als meinen Beitrag zu der Ausstellung in Nürnberg vorbereitet und verschickt. Die Vernissage ist am 20. Januar um 20 Uhr im Kunsthaus Nürnberg.
